ORIGINALLY AIRED ON 2/10/2017
Tommy Hilfiger turned the Venice Boardwalk into a carnival to debut TommyxGigi Spring/Summer 2017 collection, which also kickstarts New York Fashion Week. Despite the fog and drizzle, thousands showed up to access Tommyland!
Once you were in, there were pop up shops where you could shop the Spring/Summer collection, rides, slides and my fave FOOD TRUCKS!
Of course it wouldn't be a fashion show without celebrities sitting in the front row, insert Lady Gaga and Kris Jenner here. Seemed like the crowd watched them more than the show.
Gigi opened the show, Bella Hadid wasn't to far behind as she came out second. But the show stopper for me was JOAN SMALLS. Seeing her that close was heart stopping and jaw dropping!
From the patchwork to the oversized letterman sweaters donning the flag, this collection is so 90's meets America. I know the red, white and blue is what Hilfiger is know for but I'd like to see him surprise me. I do enjoy the see now buy now concept, which a lot of designers are turning to but there was nothing I wanted to "buy now".
After the show is the after party...that starred Fergie! Fergie was so live that she performed her verse from "All of the Lights." The crowd went WILD! Fergie perform all her hits (minus London Bridge) and even threw in some Black Eyed Peas.
Sidebar: many people don't know that there are like 30 people singing on "All of the Lights," if you listen closely, you will hear Elton John too.
Lion Babe followed Fergie, which was weird to not have them go on before but I was living. Of course, the crowd dispersed but I was able to sing with lead singer Jillian (Vanessa Williams' daughter).
While Saint Laurent and Moschino have shown on the west coast, hopefully this starts a wave of designers showing in LA and taking note that we know style and fashion! We tend to throw a good party too!
