French designer Hubert de Givenchy has sadly passed today at the age of 91. His partner confirmed the news this morning. Though the fashion house has recently been more edgy and street wear, Givenchy’s fashion House was known for elegance and he went on to dress some of the most admired women in the world including Jackie O, Grace Jones and Audrey Hepburn.

His best known work is the “little black dress” Audrey Hepburn wore in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” where the two would go on to make more magic together throughout fashion and cinema history and a friendship that would last more than 40 years.

Throughout his tenure at Givenchy, Hubert designed interiors for hotels, furnished fabrics and even designed the interior of a Ford Continental.

Givenchy went on to sell Givenchy to LVMH in 1988 and would retire shortly after. His designs were and will always be timeless.
