Beyoncé’s B-Day album turns 12 today and this album is probably still one of my favorite Beyonce’ albums! While Lemonade and the self titled Beyoncé album will always hold a special place in my heart, B-Day is the cornerstone of who Yonce’ is today. Not only did we get introduced to the Suga Mama’s (her all female band and back up vocalists) but we got to see Beyoncé fully evolve into BEYONCÉ THE ARTIST. This is where she first began giving us visuals for every track on the album and I was OBSESSED with pretty much every video. As a matter of fact, I was so obsessed that I made my own Freakum Dress video! (Yes, I’ll post it at the bottom)
Beyoncé was very calculated with her look, her sound and her moves with this album. She proved to the world she was a superstar. For me, I think I hold B-Day so close to heart because it takes me to a moment in time where I was so carefree and reckless. When I say reckless, I mean it in the sense the eff you, you can’t tell me how to live, hell I am my own Beyoncé attitude. It taught me a lot of subliminal lessons and I think I turned out ok! I’m still growing with Bey while being the best universal me.
Here’s to B-Day, thanks for letting all these clowns know that they shouldn’t think there irreplaceable. Cause I’ll take my kitty cat and throw on my freakum dress and get bodied with my homegirls!
Bonus. My Freakum Dress Video. I def got an A on this project! I still have the silver dress from this video too!
